“In-line and Real-time digital nano-characterization technologies for the high yield manufacturing of Flexible Organic Electronics”
RealNano is an ambitious 36-month project that will develop novel and fast real-time nano-characterization materi-als tools & methodologies based on Spectroscopic Ellipsometry (SE), Raman Spectroscopy (RS), Imaging Photolu-minescence (IPL) and Laser Beam Induced Current Mapping (LBIC) that will be integrated to in-line R2R (Roll-to-Roll) Printing and OVPD (Organic Vapor Phase Deposition) Pilot-to-Production Lines (PPLs) for characterization of Organic & Printed Electronics (OE) nanolayers, devices & products during their manufacturing.
RealNano will play a major role in the Digital Transformation of the EU industries since it will increase the intelligence of manufacturing processes for OEs and other industrial applications by demonstrating a yield im-provement up to 90%, in combination to above 30% reduction on wastes and resources for nanomaterials upscaling. The project’s innovations will boost the reliability, efficiency and cost-effectiveness of OE manufacturing processes, to develop nanomaterials, devices and products with a return of investment less than 5 years.
General objectives of RealNano:
- Develop rapid and real-time nanoscale, multi– modal & scale characterization tools/methodologies for OEs
- Integrate the non-destructive nano-characterization tools in in-line R2R printing and OVPD PPLs
- Develop characterization Protocols and Data Management for interoperability across industries
- Demonstrate the tools in industrial OE processes for improvement of quality and reliability of products
- Validation of OE product quality and manufacturability on commercial applications
- Effective Transfer of results to industry by Open Innovation (Dissemination, Training, Networking/Clustering)
